Face in arty black and white! Ignore please!

August 24th, 2008

Heres the head from the familar angle with mia shaders all over it. Does a much better job of easily balancing highlights. All the settings are just defaults. I made it black and white because I’ve mucked up the colour. I sucked out the lens too to make his face look like a tiny dot in a huge hat. I like it!

Lighting test!

August 24th, 2008

I’m getting down to brass tacks on this, thinking about different ways I could render up the movie, so I did a test! For my last movie I rendered the whole thing as loads of different passes - completly faked and shitty, and stuck them all back together. This time I wanna make sure all the nerdy lighting noncesence is in there, so i’m gonna use just mia materials and other barely working metal ray shaders in maya. I wanna light with loads of bounce so the main source is always rimmin off the cheecky subject, which is a bitch for animation as it flickers about like Flatterlys legs. Give it a day or two, and i’ll give this idea up. I have a golden rule never to bother with this stuff or it’ll suck you up.

WEEEEEEEEEEE!

Took the rig right off

August 24th, 2008

Right, its been so long since I bothered with this that I came to look at the rig, got confused and just removed it. So now i’m gonna make a final push to get this character done and well and truely dusted to a high shine. The bodeah is getting there, legs are a bit ill,  and those bits where they join the hips are well bob. All thats gonna get sorted out a bit - or just left probably.

A few circles glued together looks crap

August 24th, 2008

Tiny body! Why are you so po! Probably because I just made some circles and stuck them together in the vague hope that it might look not crap. Well, it did, and I lost all interest in doing this for months!

I want a floating head

August 24th, 2008

I thought it might help to do a quick black sketch of a simple body shape - really dont want to spend long on this bit, but it needs to be there! The thought of a floating head is pretty tempting! Im liking the window wiper style of the arms on the left!
